More about Englewood Hospital and Medical Center

Compassion, Innovation and Excellence
The mission of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center resulted from the vision of idealistic community members who believed all people should receive the best healthcare possible. These dedicated individuals set forth to establish a place of caring and healing, and the fruit of their dedication was Englewood Hospital, which admitted its first patient in 1890.

The founding members’ concern for others and commitment to excellence are reflected in the essence of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center today, a non-profit institution governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees whose members are elected from the community.

The Medical Center is a community hospital, an academic center of teaching, learning and research, and the Northern Valley’s only major medical center. It offers superior healthcare to more than one million residents in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties in New Jersey, Rockland County in New York, and to patients from across the nation and around the world.

The Medical Center is a leader in innovative services and state-of-the-art clinical programs, and many of its physicians have been acknowledged for advancements in medicine and patient care. It is the recipient of numerous recognitions and accreditations, including full status by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as well as certification as a Primary Stroke Center. The Medical Center has been designated a “Magnet” hospital twice, the highest honor for nursing services possible for a hospital in the United States.

Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, a member of the Mount Sinai Health System, was the first New Jersey affiliate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
