Donor Cameos - True Dedication

Medical Staff President Joseph Willner, MD, an Englewood Hospital doctor for more than 20 years, has been its generous benefactor on many occasions. Dr. Willner and his wife, Judy, also a distinguished physician, have contributed $75,000 to Lifeline to Tomorrow.

“I have, to begin, a personal motive for our gift,” said Dr. Joseph Willner. “I cannot predict when a member of my family or I will need the hospital as a result of a medical emergency. I want to help make sure that exceptional emergency care continues to be available near my home.

“I also speak with other physicians regarding donating to the hospital. We care about the hospital, yet an important question is sometimes raised: ‘Aren’t we doing enough for the hospital just by admitting patients and performing procedures there?’ If that were true, then 50 percent of the nation’s hospitals would not be in financial distress, and it would not be noteworthy that the Medical Center is ‘in the black.’ If we want to be part of the future of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, we need to support this important project.”
