Alfiero Palestroni was a visionary who achieved his goals through hard work. He arrived in the United States in 1937 at the age of 22, a young man alone with $11 in his pocket and a fifth-grade education. From his humble beginnings as a laborer, he went on to become a major land developer and property owner in the metropolitan area. His legacy lives on through the Alfiero and Lucia Palestroni Foundation, founded the year before his death and now led by his devoted wife of 35 years, Lucia. The Palestroni Foundation has donated $500,000 to Lifeline to Tomorrow to name the pediatric treatment rooms in the emergency care center.
“My husband always had a special feeling for people who needed help through no fault of their own, especially if they had a physical disability or other affliction,” said Mrs. Palestroni. “By providing much-needed financial support to the hospital, we honor his memory and fulfill his desire to help others. I know that my husband would be proud, as I am, to be part of Englewood Hospital’s progress and expansion.”
