Jazz – A Tribute to Frank Forte, MD.
The extended family of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center gathered on the evening of October 25 to celebrate the grand opening of the Medical Center’s new Infusion Therapy Center and the 15th anniversaries of the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial Fund and the Dizzy Gillespie Cancer Institute, and to honor special guest Dr. Frank Forte. The community-wide celebration resulted in almost $25,000 in donations in Dr. Forte’s honor.
Fifteen renowned musicians performed in a musical tribute to the physician, who for 15 years has led a program that has provided medical care to uninsured jazz artists. The program came to be as a result of a request from Dizzy Gillespie that the hospital help jazz musicians less fortunate than he was to have quality healthcare care.
